Nurses Present Research at State and National Conferences

Several Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center nurses have presented research at national conferences recently.

Tracy Tidwell, CPNP, CFNP, presented “A Nursing Pilot Study on Bedside Reporting to Promote Best Practice and Family-Centered Care,” at the Tennessee Nursing and Workforce Summit in October 2008. Tracy is the brain tumor program coordinator at Le Bonheur. This study was also presented in a concurrent session and a poster presentation at the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing annual convention in Las Vegas in March. Presenters also included Connie Lindsey, MSN, RN; Emily Snider, BSN, RN; Iva Scroggins, BSN, RN; Ann Reed, MSN, RN; Christy Zarski, AND, RN; and Jessica Edwards, BSN, RN.

Ambre’ Huff, PNP-BC, presented “Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Oral Care Routines by Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Nurses on mechanically Ventilated Pediatric Patients,” during a poster presentation at the Arkansas Nurses Association annual convention in October 2008. Ambre’ is an orthopedic nurse practitioner at Le Bonheur. Ambre’ will also be presenting “Pediatric Patients with Cast Immobilizations” in a concurrent session at the Association of Orthopedic Nurses in Tampa in May.

“Preventing Fumbled Handoffs” was a concurrent session presented at the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions by Paula Dycus. Paula is the administrative director of professional practice and research at Le Bonheur, and presented her session in March in Nashville.

Lai Brooks, FNP, presented “Seize the Moment,” on pediatric epilepsy, at the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing annual convention in Las Vegas on March 29, 2009. Lai is an inpatient nurse practitioner for the Le Bonheur Neuroscience Institute.
