Le Bonheur celebrates new hospital
Le Bonheur Children's celebrated its 58th birthday with a Grand Opening celebration of its new hospital on June 15. Grand Opening festivities included a parade and ceremony that honored those who helped build the $340 million facility. Later in the week, the hospital hosted a Physician Open House, giving medical staff members a chance to tour the facility. The new Le Bonheur Children's is the largest children's hospital in Tennessee and will open to patients in September.

Klimo joins Neuroscience Institute
Pediatric Neurosurgeon Paul Klimo, MD, MPH, Lt. Col., USAF, will join Le Bonheur's Neuroscience Institute in July. He most recently served as chief of neurosurgery for the 88th Medical Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. He completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Children's Hospital Boston, and his neurosurgery residency and master's in public health from University of Utah at Salt Lake City.
"Le Bonheur has a great reputation and is in the process of an aggressive expansion of its facility," Klimo said. "For me, the opportunity to work with children with brain tumors is the greatest draw. To have that opportunity coupled with the volume and world-renowned reputation that Le Bonheur has is a dream come true."
Le Bonheur hosts breastfeeding conference
Le Bonheur Children's will host the "Breastfeeding Update 2010: Prevention at Its Finest," conference on Wednesday, Aug. 4. The hospital will join other local organizations to offer the conference, which will provide information about situations commonly presented to primary care providers and lactation specialists. The conference's keynote speaker is Miriam Labbock, MD, MPH, FACPM, IBCLC, FABM, director of the Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute in Chapel Hill, N.C. Local pediatrician Julie Ware, MD, FAAP, FABM, IBCLC, is the course director.
