The Le Bonheur Children's Art Collection
The region’s top artists lent their talent to make the new Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital a restorative and hopeful place. Now Memphians are invited to support the effort to heal children and families through art by underwriting a piece of art of the collection.
The art in the new Le Bonheur was created around the themes of courage, compassion, hope and love. From quilts and mosaics to metalwork and photography, the new hospital provides children an opportunity to see and experience all types of art.
More than 200 pieces of art were created by regional school children, and the works of more than 50 professional artists grace the hospital’s walls.
The collection features works by artists including:
- Jeanne Seagle
- Lea Holland
- Dawn Hamm
- Jim Hirschfield
- Sonya Ishii
- George Rodrigue
- Dolph Smith
- Leslie Barron
- Greely Myatt
- Carroll Todd
- Yvonne Bobo
- Herb Williams
- Carol deForest
To give children across the Mid-South community an opportunity to contribute to the new hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s conducted an art contest. More than 3,000 pieces were submitted, and of these, 200 were selected. The winning artwork can be seen throughout the hospital. Art work available for underwriting ranges from $300 to $100,000.
