Le Bonheur welcomes new specialists
Shahnoor Hussain, DO, joined Le Bonheur as a pediatric sleep medicine physician. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at University of Illinois Chicago. Hussain completed her fellowship in Sleep Medicine at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Edson Ruiz, MD, joined Le Bonheur as a neonatologist. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Ruiz completed his fellowship in Neonatology at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Towbin announces retirement from Le Bonheur’s Heart Institute
Jeffrey A. Towbin, MD, has announced his retirement from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital at the end of June of this year after a decade of service as executive co-director of the Heart Institute, chief of Pediatric Cardiology and medical director of the Cardiomyopathy, Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Program. His leadership led to the immense growth of Le Bonheur’s Heart Institute and its programs, including the recruitment of top-tier physicians, the development of nationally recognized subspecialty programs and the creation of a state-of-the-art cardiac expansion. He has been recognized for his teaching and mentorship and acknowledged by many leading organizations for his impact on the field of pediatric cardiology.
Ridley-Pryor joins Board of National Professional Advisory Committee of Epilepsy Alliance America
Tracee Ridley-Pryor, DNP, PMHNP-BC, recently joined the board of the National Professional Advisory Committee (NPAC) of Epilepsy Alliance America. The committee comprises epilepsy experts across a wide range of medical disciplines. The NPAC helps to lead and advise the Board of Directors on program policy and development and ensures that programs are based on sound, scientific and evidence-based data that considers the needs of people living with epilepsy and those who care for them. Ridley-Pryor serves as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. She also serves as director of Research Strategies and Collaboration in Pediatric Neurology, instructor of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine and assistant professor in the College of Nursing at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
King named Le Bonheur Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology
Joseph D. King, MD, accepted the position of chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. King comes to Le Bonheur from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Mississippi where he serves as vice chair of Pediatric Anesthesia. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s in Chemistry and earning his medical degree at Drexel University, he completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center). King will be responsible for assimilating a team of excellent pediatric anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists to further enhance perioperative anesthesia services and will work to drive excellence in quality, safety and efficiency in the operating room.
