Clean hands keep kids healthy
Posted: November 05, 2014Washing your hands is the most important way to keep from getting sick. Dr. Jon McCullers, flu researcher and pediatrician in chief at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, explains two ways to clean your hands and demonstrates the proper methods.
There are two ways to keep you hands clean.
- Alcohol-based hand gel
Rub evenly over your hands and then wait five seconds for it to dry. This will kill any bugs you've picked up from touching your mouth or objects others have touched.
- Soap and water
Get your hands under the water and mechanically rub your hands to remove any dirt and grime.Apply soap and spend 30 seconds rubbing it into all services.Spend 15-30 seconds rubbing the soap off under the water.
To make it fun for children, you can recite the alphabet or sing “Mary had a little lamb” while washing your hands.
