Surgery for kids is different than surgery for adults. From their growing bodies to the way they react to anesthesia, it matters that your child’s surgeon understands the differences. Our surgeons are all board-certified and fellowship trained in pediatric general surgery. We are the only hospital in our area to offer a comprehensive pediatric general surgery program including surgeons, anesthesiologists and specialized nurses and staff dedicated to the care of infants and children.
Sometimes it takes more than a great surgical team for children to be comfortable. Our care includes child life specialists, a special pre-operative (before surgery) teaching program and Bunny Lane, where your child can pick out a toy before surgery.
Parent participation is important. We encourage parents to be with their children while they are being put to sleep. Our goal is to reduce stress and anxiety for children who receive anesthesia for any procedure.
