FedExFamilyHouse celebrated a decade of helping families feel at home on Sunday, Aug. 9. This year’s event was held virtually, with attendees celebrating from the comfort of their own homes. Participants were joined by celebrities including Magic Johnson, Rascal Flatts, Miss America, the Memphis Grizzlies and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin. Guests were treated to inspiring video messages from Le Bonheur families and had the opportunity to participate in both a live and silent auction.
Since opening its doors in 2010, FedExFamilyHouse has been a homeaway-from-home for more than 230,000 Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital family members. Housing is the last thing parents should worry about when their child is sick or injured. FedExFamilyHouse serves as a crucial resource — providing free lodging for families who travel long distances to seek expert care at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Generous sponsors and the Gala Committee helped make the evening possible, with thousands of virtual attendees from around the nation and more than $880,000 raised.
The annual FedExFamilyHouse 5k Run/Walk was held as a virtual event Sept. 18-20. With over 900 runners,
walkers and strollers signed up to participate from 32 states and 6 countries, the event was a success! Many thanks to event sponsor, FedEx Logistics, for recruiting participants both nationwide and internationally. Other major contributing sponsors included Project 44, FedEx Employee Credit Association, FedEx Freight who had the largest team with 183 participants and FedEx Ground with 154 participants. Together the sponsors, team members and participants raised over $55,000 benefitting FedExFamilyHouse! A big thanks to the volunteer leaders and event organizers who helped make this event possible, including Aly Hancock, Marcus Grandberry, Kelly Crow, Dottie Heinz, Bryan Lange and Shanti Patel.
The Forrest Spence Fund held its 13th annual Forrest Spence 5K on Aug. 29. For the safety of participants, this year’s event was virtual and included a pre-event interactive training program. More than 1,100 people participated in the event, which raised more than $123,000. The mission of the Fund is to assist with the non-medical needs of critically or chronically ill children and their families throughout the MidSouth. They have been tremendous supporters of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital families since the Fund was founded in 2007.
Le Bonheur Children's Hospital depends on the generosity of friends like you to help us serve 250,000 children each year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. Every gift helps us improve the lives of children.
