Meet Our UT Le Bonheur Pediatrics Specialists

Clinical Director

Dr. Jason Yaun is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He is the Outpatient General Pediatrics Division Chief and the Medical Director of the UT Le Bonheur Pediatric Specialists General Pediatrics Clinic at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. He also serves as the Vice Chair for Strategic Advancement in the Department of Pediatrics at UTHSC. Dr. Yaun serves as the Medical Director of the Family Resilience Initiative.

Dr. Yaun is from Memphis, completing medical school and residency training at the University of Tennessee before joining the faculty there. He is Past President of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Yaun is involved with education, clinical research, and advocacy. In the community he serves on the boards of Books from Birth Shelby County and the Children’s Museum of Memphis.

Dr. Lauren Arnold Bell is an Adolescent Medicine pediatrician dedicated to improving care for teens and young adults. She provides treatment for substance use, reproductive health, and mental health concerns and partners with local communities to expand access to evidence-based care for vulnerable youth. She grew up in Memphis and then attended Columbia College in New York City, where she double majored in Comparative Literature and Society and Hispanic Studies. Bell served in the United States Peace Corps in Cambodia before pursuing an MD/MPH at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Mailman School of Public Health's Department of Population and Family Health. She then completed Pediatric Residency at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and Adolescent Medicine Fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine/Riley Hospital for Children.

Dr. Adrienne Arrindell is a psychologist in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she works with children and adolescents in the Eating Disorder Program at LeBonheur Children's Hospital. Her current research focuses on behavioral and pharmacological interventions for children with eating and developmental concerns. She graduated from Princeton University (BA), the University of Virginia School of Law (JD), and Vanderbilt University (PhD), where her doctoral research focused on eating disorders and health psychology. She also has significant experience in assessment and intervention for developmental and behavioral concerns in youth.

Rana Assfoura, MD, FAAP, CCMS is an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and a pediatrician at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Assfoura received her medical degree from the University of Damascus Medical School in Damascus, Syria. She completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center/Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Following residency, she practiced as a general pediatrician in the community before returning to UTHSC as a clinical educator in the outpatient general pediatrics clinic.

Dr. Assfoura is a Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist and is deeply engaged in advancing nutrition-focused care and education. She currently serves as the Director of the UTHSC Culinary Medicine Program and as the faculty advisor for the Food Is Medicine group, where she works to integrate evidence-based nutrition and culinary medicine into clinical practice, medical education, and community outreach.
