The Fetal Center is located inside the Le Bonheur Outpatient Center. A typical visit will last two to three hours. Appointments may be longer if additional tests are needed, or if you see multiple specialists. To ensure you have your questions answered and are able to get the most out of your visit, we suggest you make arrangements to spend several hours at the Fetal Center.
Your first visit will consist of:
- Nursing assessment
- Discussion of family history
- Consultation with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist
- Ultrasound(s)
- Appointments with pediatric subspecialties or other services
- Fetal MRI, if needed
After your first visit, you may be scheduled to meet with various pediatric specialists for follow up appointments. The Program Manager of the Fetal Center will help coordinate care for you and make sure you have all the information you need when meeting with the different specialists.
In the days following your visit, the Fetal Center team will discuss your case with a team of pediatric experts at Le Bonheur to determine the best care plan possible. The Fetal Center team will partner with you and discuss your options with you and your family.
When it’s time for delivery, the Fetal Center physicians will work with you to determine the best and safest location to deliver to your baby. Le Bonheur’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offers state-of-the-art services to care for your newborn immediately following birth.
