Pediatric Psychology at Le Bonheur

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) are seeking a dedicated and experienced pediatric psychologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in inpatient work, providing psychological services to children and adolescents in a hospital setting. This role involves working collaboratively with medical staff to address the psychological needs of patients and their families. The position is within the Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health and is eligible for academic appointment at UTHSC within the Department of Pediatrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments and provide evidence-based interventions for pediatric patients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Provide consultation services to medical staff regarding the psychological aspects of patient care.
  • Offer support and counseling to patients and their families to help them cope with illness and hospitalization.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings and continuing education activities.
  • Conduct or collaborate on research and contribute to the development of best practices in pediatric psychology.
  • Perform medically-based internal referrals to triage and/or treat.
  • Work with other disciplines in establishing and maintaining multidisciplinary clinics

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the state of Tennessee.
  • Specialized training and experience in pediatric psychology and inpatient consultation-liaison work.
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders in children and adolescents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Completion of an APA/CPA-approved internship and one-year postdoctoral experience in pediatric psychology with specialized training in pediatric populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a pediatric hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in pediatric psychology.
  • Research experience and a record of scholarly contributions to the field.
