Post Pediatric Portal Program

Advance Your Career. Transform Pediatric Mental Health.

Are you a pediatrician passionate about mental health care? The Post Pediatric Portal Program (PPPP) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) offers a unique opportunity to expand your expertise and make a lasting impact.

Why Choose the Post Pediatric Portal Program?

  • Triple Board Eligibility: Complete a three-year program that qualifies you in:
    • General Pediatrics
    • Adult Psychiatry
    • Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP)
  • One of Only Five Programs Nationwide: Stand out in your field with a credential that few physicians hold.
  • Comprehensive Training:
    • 18 months Adult Psychiatry
    • 18 months Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
    • Rotations at leading facilities:
Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Lakeside Behavioral Health, UTHSC Department of Psychiatry
  • Hands-On Impact: Participate in TCAPES, a statewide mental health consultation service supporting pediatricians across Tennessee.

Why It Matters

Mental health disorders affect 1 in 6 children and adolescents in the U.S., yet half go untreated. Tennessee faces a critical shortage of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists; 79% of counties have none. By joining PPPP, you’ll help close this gap and bring care to underserved communities.

What Sets the Pediatric Post Portal Program Apart

  • High Demand: More applicants than available spots each year.
  • Proven Success: Our graduates pass boards and go on to practice Child Psychiatry.
  • Career Impact: Gain specialized skills that open doors to leadership, advocacy, and clinical excellence.
